Mild Tasks
Literacy
Be prepared for our school trip to Glasgow Science Centre where we will be doing a workshop called ‘Into Space’.
What is space?
Space is the huge area all around our planet, Earth. It is very, very big and has no air to breathe. In space, we can find stars, planets, and moons. It is dark, but the stars shine brightly.
Our planet Earth
Earth is the planet we live on. It has land, water, and air, which help people, animals, and plants live. From space, Earth looks like a blue and green ball. It is special because it is the only planet we know that has life.
The Sun and the Moon
The Sun is a star that gives us light and heat. It helps plants grow and keeps us warm. The Moon goes around Earth and can be seen at night. Sometimes it looks full and round, and sometimes it looks like a thin shape.
Planets in space
There are many planets in space, and they all travel around the Sun. Some are very hot, and some are very cold. Each planet is different in size, colour, and surface. Earth is one of these planets.
Exploring space
People called astronauts travel into space using rockets. They wear special suits to help them breathe and stay safe. Astronauts explore space to learn more about planets, stars, and our universe.
Questions:
- What is space like?
- Why is Earth special?
- What does the Sun give us?
- What is the Moon and when can we see it?
- Who travels into space and how do they get there?
