Reading
The Tudor period lasted from 1485 to 1603, starting when Henry VII won the Battle of Bosworth. It was a time of massive change in Britain, as explorers sailed to new lands and the church underwent a huge transformation called the Reformation. Life was very different depending on your wealth; the rich lived in grand houses with chimneys and glass windows, while the poor often lived in small, smoky cottages. Famous monarchs like Henry VIII, Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I ruled with absolute power, overseeing a golden age of theatre, music, and literature. However, it was also a dangerous time, with frequent outbreaks of the plague and harsh punishments for those who broke the law.
