Communication

The best way to contact us is via the school admin email account admin@craigroyston.edin.sch.uk as our email account is monitored throughout the school day. You can also call us and leave a message but, as our office is not always staffed, an email can be quicker.


We send all communications via ParentPay. You need to sign up for this and the office would be pleased to help you if you find you are not receiving our newsletters and other communications. More than one parent can be registered. You are welcome to use our ipad at the school office to order lunches or check/respond to your ParentPay emails if you need. The local library also has internet access facilities.


Please do not pass on messages or information to teachers or Pupil Support Assistants at the beginning and end of the school day in the playground. Although this seems like a sensible, quick way to share information, the teachers have a number of duties at these times and are responsible for the safety of pupils and the security of the school. Please do not contact us by Twitter or Facebook rather via the office. There have been occasions where messages were not passed on/ overlooked and this has caused unnecessary upset. Please contact the school office by phone or email and we will be happy to help you and ensure your information is shared appropriately. We will always seek to respond to your phone call/ email within 10 working days (5 working days if it is a complaint).

From time to time we will use Facebook to share successes and news.


Parental Requests for Class Lists

Information about your child is held securely and appropriate safeguards are in place.  Due to these safeguards we are unable to provide parents and carers with the list of names your child is classmates with.


Complaints, Comments and Suggestions Procedure

We all hope that you will be completely satisfied about your child’s education and we encourage feedback on our services from parents and pupils. We are, therefore, interested in feedback of all kinds, whether it be compliments, suggestions or complaints.

If you want to register a comment of any type about our school you can do this by writing, e-mailing, telephoning or making an appointment to see someone. All feedback is welcome and keeps us in touch.

If, in particular, you have a complaint about the school, please let us know.  It is better that these things are shared openly and resolved fairly, rather than being allowed to damage the relationship between the family and the school. There will be no negative consequences arising from making a complaint and we will deal with the issue as confidentially as possible.

There are some things which you should take note of in relation to making a complaint:

  • please make any complaints initially to the Headteacher- this makes sure that the school knows what is going on and has an opportunity to respond and resolve the issue
  • we will try to respond as quickly as possible, but often issues are complex and we need time to investigate
  • If you are dissatisfied with the service or/and with our response then you will have the right to take the matter further and contact Advice and Complaints Service (Schools and Lifelong Learning) email: cf.complaints@edinburgh.gov.uk or by telephone: 0131 469 3233

If you remain dissatisfied after the further investigation and reply you can take the matter up with the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman, our reply will include the contact details.
