Agenda: Share School Travel Plan
Minutes:
– We invited PC Ewan, Mark Symonds and our JRSO parents to view our new School Travel Plan
– Feedback from visitors was very positive – they felt the plan was detailed, informative and interesting.
Two suggestions were raised:
– list some next steps for JRSOs from findings
– organise a walk around the local area with PC Ewan and Mark Symonds to identify any issues
Action Plan:
– Create Next Steps for JRSO’s
– Agree date and time for walk around the area
– Share Active Travel Plan with the rest of the school

Agenda: School Travel Plan
Minutes:
JRSO’s viewed School Travel Plans from across the country and chose the main sections that they would like to include in our school plan:
– How children come to school
– How to keep people safe
– Healthy and eco-friendly choices
– Our school goals and actions
We created a survey to find out how children travel to school.
Action Plan:
– JRSO’s to share details of the survey at the assembly on Monday 19.01.26
– Invite Parents and PC Ewan to comment on our Travel Plan

Meeting 3
Date: 24.11.25
Attendees: Primary 6 pupils, Amanda Edwards (Principal Teacher), PC Ewan Hickie (Police Scotland) and Rebecca Favier (Head Teacher)
Agenda:
1) Introductions
2) Road safety issues in the local area
Minutes:
1) PC Ewan explained that he had been working in the area for a number of years. We
welcomed to Matthew to the group.
2) Speeding – The limit in the area has been reduced from 30mph to 20mph.
Ebikes and electric scooters – Being using illegally and dangerously.
Driving illegally – No insurance or license.
Surface of the roads – Lots of pot holes and hazards.
Crossing the road safely – Using a crossing.
Congestion – Lots of parked cars, with limited space.
Making it dangerous to cross the road safely.
Using a mobile when driving, is illegally.
Wearing a seatbelt in the car.
People not behaving sensibly on the bus.
Action Plan:
Choose a priority, from above, to begin a campaign.

1) Introduction
2) Invites to next JRSO meeting
Minutes:
1) We welcomed a new recruit to the group as our new JRSO member. We shared with them what was discussed at the previous meeting.
2) The JRSO’s wrote an email to Mrs Favier and PC Ewan Hickie (Community Police Officer) inviting them to our next meeting
Action Plan:
Meet with Mrs Favier and the Community Police Officer, to discuss any road safety issues in the local area
Meeting 1
Date: 13.11.25
Attendees: Mark Symonds (Transport Officer), Primary 6 pupils and Amanda Edwards (Principal Teacher)
Agenda: 1) Introductions
2) Purpose of the JRSO role
3) What we hope to achieve 25/26
Minutes:
1) Our newly recruited JRSO’s. Mark Symonds is the Transport Officer for Edinburgh.
2) Mark explained that a JRSO helps keep everyone in the school safe by promoting road safety. They lead fun activities and campaigns to encourage the whole school (and community) to make safer choices every day. Mark shared that a current issue is the darker night and making sure you are bright and seen.
3) Mark suggested that we find out the main priorities, in our local area, and choose what we can focus on to improve. Mark gifted us some prizes we can hand out for competitions
Action Plan:
Ask Mrs Favier and Community Police Officer, to attend the next meeting to share any current issues in the community (i.e. parking, cycle safety)Talk to Mrs Favier about a School Travel Plan
